 2017 Preview 


       Pinson Valley completed the 2016 season with a 8-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region six, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Pinson Valley reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Austin by a score of 44-38.

       Since 2010, Pinson Valley has gone a combined 49-32. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 6A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Pinson Valley has managed to compile a record of 147-123. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 6A and 144th in the AHSAA.

Matt Glover was relieved of his duties as head football coach at Pinson Valley High School in December. After eight seasons at the school with a 50-41 record the coach and school parted ways.

Glover also served as the head coach at Moody for three seasons and leaves with a 64-58 overall record in eleven seasons.


After five seasons as the head football coach at Scottsboro, Patrick Nix moves to Pinson Valley in 2017. His record at Scottsboro stands at 28-18 including 12-1 last year.



       Coach Nix's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 28-18 (60.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Nix's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won one region championship.

       The Pinson Valley Indians will play in Class 6A region six during the 2017 season.

       The Indians will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2009 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2017.

       The Indians open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent McAdory on Friday, August 25 at McAdory Stadium. Last year the McAdory Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in second place in Class 6A region four. The Yellow Jackets lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Blount by a score of 27-25.

       Pinson Valley and McAdory have met a total of 23 times on the football field. The Indians have a 12-11-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2016 with Pinson Valley winning by a score of 15-8.
